For the sessions we run, the minimum age is 9 - however children can start judo as long as they have started school. For children in Reception to Year 4 we recommend TeamBath Tribe - currently led by the university, with our club coaches Roxy and Gergo.

Judo is an Olympic sport originating in Japan. The aim is to grapple with your partner and try and throw them flat on their back. There is no striking (punching or kicking) and it is considered one of the safest contact sports for children to do!
We have kits for sale at the club! Ask at one of the sessions, and you will be able to try one on - pricing varies with size
Gradings are run in club sessions throughout the year - coaches will advise in advance when the next grading will be based on the group level
There is a small fee associated - £15 for Mon grades and £20 for Kyu grades
We follow the British Judo syllabus, and if you are aged 8-16 you will be using the Mon grade system, and 16+ will be using the Kyu grade system. Full details of these can be found on the British Judo website:
